This is something I got few mails regarding what I carry and use on day to day basis + somethings I really like about my work setup. > [!note] > I dont endorse any company neither am I saying what I use is superior, I dont > get paid from these companies, use something else if you want to. But this is > what I use daily. ## The Laptop I use the Thinkpad E14 Gen2 (AMD). I use it for everything, I dont have any other "computer" other than this laptop and it has served me well so far. I pretty much abuse the shit out of this. ![laptop1](/img/edc/laptop2.jpg) IK the banged up corners looks shit and I assure you those are held together by medical tape (not electrical tape) but anyway here are the specs for this laptop 1. CPU: Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics 2. RAM: 16G 3. Disk: 1.5T Internal + 2T External Drive (Attached) The system is pretty scuffed but I holds strong for my work. For OS I have VoidLinux as my main daily and I have been using the same instance for over 3 years now. No fresh install no extra distro hopping. Its great, stable while also being "almost" bleeding edge. I use an External Drive which is encrypted by luks for storing my essential stuffs. It is not mounted by default. But I dont want to loose it in my pile or drives. I cant track which one is which. It loops cursed but once I get a good enough environment where I can have more data on my NAS I will be removing this from here, but for now its pretty important. For any future laptop, I would like to get one of the Framework or System76 Laptops. Those seem to be good and powerfull + framework have upgradability that just works which is a plus. ## Keyboard and Mouse ![laptop1](/img/edc/keyboard_mouse.jpg) Keyboard is the Keychron Q1 V2 (knob) I think its a good quality keyboard, I have a hybrid key-switch layout that works for me. I use the gateron browns (i think) for the mod key and any other key except for the charecter keys. For character keys I use gateron milky yellows. IDK why but I like the feel of this kind of layout for most of me work. Rest of the stuffs are default. Tho I have mapped most of the keys in this keyboard using [via](https://caniusevia.com). [Here is my configuration for my mappings](https://gist.github.com/iamb4uc/6c06915e89a6dfb556181cde9ee242dd) For the mouse its Logitech G304, its pretty decent mice and its the second one I bought, previous one lasted over 5 years I think, and I dont really use mouse that much since all my workflow runs in my Window Manager and everything has vim bindings. I use it mostly for playing games if I get the time and GIMP / other task that require mouse. ## Remarkable 2 ![laptop1](/img/edc/remarkable2.jpg) I recently heard that this one got discontinued for a new model called pure, I dont know about that but this thing really works well with my workflow for tracking and reading books for my study and work. I love the paper like feel it has and the design. I dont like how strict it is with its hardware and software, end of the day its also a spyware, even tho they are running linux the hardware feels a bit slow now. I have tried multiple hacks but my favorite is the Appload and xovi apps, I can load syncthing and load my ebooks on KOReader since the default pdf viewer feels slugish to me. Anyway for notes its good, for everything else its not even a choice. But I guess thats what they pitch it to be. Anyway you can [download the suspended wallpaper](/img/edc/remarkable/suspended.png) and also if you want I have this [poweroff wallpaper](/img/edc/remarkable/poweroff.png). Welcome. ## Notebook ![laptop1](/img/edc/physicalnotebook.jpg) Just a normal notebook that I write on, it has journal, gratitude and other stuff, this is the first thing I grab in the morning and the last thing I touch before going back to sleep. ## Complete Setup ![laptop1](/img/edc/completesetup.jpg) I did not mention the monitor on a seperate section but I use a generic lenovo monitor and I bought it form a store so I dont recall the model tbh. It just works and has been working for over 6-7 years if i recall correctly. I dont own a vesa mount since I dont care about that, I can just put some books under it and call it a day. At the end of the day, I hope you understand you dont need any of these except for a laptop to work on. Thats basically it, rest is just fluff. Anyway bie.
